Lilianne R. Mujica-Parodi is a computational neuroscientist who builds mechanistic, multi-scale models of the brain to advance the diagnosis and treatment of psychiatric and neurological disorders. Her research applies and extends control theory to the allostatic regulation of neural circuits and their interactions with the body's metabolic and physiological systems. This work spans fundamental discoveries, computational methods, and patented hardware instrumentation for precision psychiatry and neurology.

She is Director of the Laboratory for Computational Neurodiagnostics, Baszucki Endowed Chair of Metabolic Neuroscience, and Professor of Biomedical Engineering at Stony Brook University, where she is also a member of the Laufer Center for Physical and Quantitative Biology. She is additionally Neuroscientist in the Department of Radiology at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School (Athinoula A. Martinos Center for Biomedical Imaging), a Research Affiliate at MIT (Picower Institute and Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Lab), and External Faculty at the Santa Fe Institute.

Dr. Mujica-Parodi is Lead PI of Neuroblox, a software platform for computational neuroscience and psychiatry. Neuroblox builds electrophysiologically validated, multi-scale circuit models of the brain, including digital twins, that support simulation, scientific machine learning, and in silico testing of therapeutics. Its applications include pharmaceutical drug development and the optimization of interventions such as deep brain stimulation. She is also CEO of Neuroblox, Inc., the platform's university spin-out startup.

Dr. Mujica-Parodi received her undergraduate and graduate degrees from Georgetown University and Columbia University, respectively, where her studies focused on mathematical logic and the foundations of physics. She subsequently completed an NIH fellowship in clinical neuroscience at Columbia University's College of Physicians and Surgeons, joined its faculty, and was later recruited to Stony Brook University. Her honors include the National Science Foundation CAREER Award, the White House Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers (PECASE), the State Department Fulbright Distinguished Chair Award, and election to the College of Fellows of the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE).
