HELENA "JOLIEN" VAN NIEUWENHUIZEN, B.S.
Ph.D. CANDIDATE (PHYSICS)
After completing a double major in Physics and BME at SUNYSB, Jolien is now a Ph.D. candidate in Physics. In the past, she pursued research in nuclear physics, performing leptoquark generation simulations using LQGENEP LQ software in an ongoing project to upgrade the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) to an Electron Ion Collider. She has also worked in bioimaging research, focusing on super-resolution microscopy.
At LCNeuro her focus is on statistical physical approaches towards computational neuroscience, to better understand the impact of metabolic (energy) constraints on neurons and neurotransmitters (using fMRI and MR/S-PET), as relating to brain aging.
